It is my privilege and honour to address you as the President of the Indian Psychiatric Society – North Zone. The IPS North Zone has consistently played a vital role in advancing psychiatric knowledge, strengthening clinical practice, promoting research, and advocating for mental health across the northern region of our country.

Mental health is an integral component of overall health, and psychiatrists today stand at a crucial intersection of science, compassion, ethics, and social responsibility. In an era marked by rapid social change, technological advancement, and emerging psychosocial challenges, our role as mental health professionals has become more important than ever. The North Zone of IPS remains committed to addressing these evolving needs through academic excellence, collaborative research, capacity building, and meaningful engagement with communities.

Our objectives remain clear: to promote evidence-based psychiatric practice, encourage high-quality research, enhance training and continuing professional development, and advocate for mental health policies that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive. We also recognize the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and working closely with other medical professionals, policymakers, educators, and civil society to reduce stigma and improve access to mental health care.

I take this opportunity to acknowledge the dedication and contributions of our senior members, office bearers, and enthusiastic younger colleagues, whose collective efforts continue to strengthen the society. I also encourage our members to actively participate in zonal and national academic activities, contribute to research and publications, and mentor the next generation of mental health professionals.

Together, let us reaffirm our commitment to ethical practice, scientific rigor, and compassionate care.
